The Balwyn Interior was a renovation and extension to an existing two storey residence located in Balwyn, Victoria. The bulk of the plans and elevations were designed and drafted by a draftsman previously hired by the owners. I was then consulted to provide input on various specific design elements, both interior and exterior. The majority of the interior work consisted of designing and documenting all joinery in the project, including extensively detailed wall paneling in the Entry Hall and Study. This included a unique Tudor archway/portal delineating the existing structure from the new. Advice on skirtings, architraves, and cornices was also a part of the interior work. On the exterior, my input was requested for the design of the room to be rebuilt above the entry door. This would be the feature element of the front elevation, but it also couldn't be dramatically different from the existing room to comply with the requirements of council's heritage overlay.
