site plan

Project & Brief

The Prestige Mill project was to be a $30 million redevelopment of the site of a former clothing mill in Ararat, Victoria. Among the several industrial buildings on the site, only a 6500m2 brick factory building with its attached 1930's era offices was to be retained.

My role was that of Project Architect for Ridolfi Design. As such, a Moderne, or Art Deco style, design was developed which included the addition of two floors to the main building so that all the remaining buildings could be converted into a hotel and regional conference centre including restaurants and retail space. A new medical centre and new attached retail building were also to be added to the complex in the same style to reflect that of the existing office area.

The remaining half of the site was then to be developed for senior housing. Fifty one independent living units comprised of three basic layouts were to be constructed. These were to have Moderne façades as well.
